چکیده

Abstract The Venetia Burney Student Dust Counter (SDC) is an in situ dust detector on board the New Horizons spacecraft measuring interplanetary particle (IDP) distribution for grains with mass m > 10 −12 g. SDC provides a near-continuous measure of environment, recent results spanning beyond 50 au. This coverage includes Edgeworth–Kuiper Belt (EKB), suggested by numerical models to be dominant source IDP outer solar system. Here we present updated density au and compare estimated flux values existing theoretical models. observes peak densities near 42 au, expect decay increasing heliocentric distance. Based measurements, also discuss effects generation, transport, loss evolution surfaces EKB objects, continual intermixing their surface material, general tendency homogenize spectral properties. Continued measurements remain critical revealing large-scale structure guide interpretation disks around other stars. Additionally, consider potential interstellar (ISD) “outer” Kuiper contribution its effect anticipated show that inclusion either predicted model noticeable deviation Current future serve constrain relative ISD SDC’s estimates.

The Student Dust Counter on the New Horizons Mission

The Student Dust Counter (SDC) experiment of the New Horizons Mission is an impact dust detector to map the spatial and size distribution of dust along the trajectory of the spacecraft across the solar system. The sensors are thin, permanently polarized polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) plastic films that generate an electrical signal when dust particles penetrate their surface. SDC is capable of ...

efl students gender and socioeconomic status: the use of politeness strategies in the first and second languages

within the components of communicative competence, a special emphasis is put on the “rules of politeness,” specifically the politeness strategies (brown and levinson, 1978) that speakers deploy when performing the request speech act. this is because the degree of imposition that making a request places upon one’s interlocutor(s) has been seen to be influenced by several factors among which, as ...

Electrovacuum Static Counter - Rotating Relativistic Dust Disks

A detailed study of the Counter-Rotating Model (CRM) for generic electrostatic (magnetostatic) axially symmetric thin disks without radial pressure is presented. We find a general constraint over the counter-rotating tangential velocities needed to cast the surface energy-momentum tensor of the disk as the superposition of two counter-rotating charged dust fluids. We then show that this constra...

First-light LBT nulling interferometric observations: warm exozodiacal dust resolved within a few AU of ηCrv

We report on the first nulling interferometric observations with the Large Binocular Telescope Interferometer (LBTI), resolving the N’ band (9.81 12.41μm) emission around the nearby main-sequence star ηCrv (F2V, 1-2Gyr). The measured source null depth amounts to 4.40% ± 0.35% over a field-of-view of 140mas in radius (∼2.6AU at the distance of ηCrv) and shows no significant variation over 35 of ...

A Note on the Cylindrical Collapse of Counter-rotating Dust

One of the outstanding issues of general relativity is that of the final state of gravitational collapse. Understandably, much has been written about spherical collapse , but comparatively less is known about non-spherical geometries. Thorne’s seminal analysis of cylindrical collapse 2 led him to formulate the hoop conjecture, which essentially states that horizons form when and only when the g...
